- Young
- Total resection (removal of tumor)
- Mostly Grade 2 (benign) with spot of Grade 3 (beginning malignancy)
- Chemo's affect on this type of tumor...
...the doctor recommended that we monitor through MRI scans before jumping into chemo! In other words...NO CHEMO! There has not be any definitive proof of chemo's improvement on this type of tumor and is more than anything a safety measure for tumors with Grade 3.
If the tumor had not been removed, it would be a different story. If the tumor was a Grade 3 with spots of Grade 4 (worse), it would be a different story. If Laura had this happen later in life, it would be a different story. All in all, once the radiation treatments are finished on November 15th, we will officially be "on the other side" of this experience. Praise God!
We are obviously very excited and relieved to learn of this, and the doctor was fantastic to work with throughout the time today. It is such a relief, though it is incumbent on us taking care of ourselves (I am in this too), meaning we are back on the vegan train to make sure there is only natural stuff going into her system due to the studies of the effect of food on cancer. Happy to do it.

WHOOHOO...I needed to hear about something good today, and I got it!! I am so glad God has confirmed your gut opinion on the chemo through an expert you trust. Great news!! Take care of yourself, and know we are still praying every chance we get.
Love,

Oh Laura and Chad,
I am so very excited for your awesome news. Since you are returning to your vegan ways and more organics I thought I would give you something else to look into. My sister-in-law survived breast cancer after chemo, mastectomy and radiation therapy. The tumor was massive at diagnosis. She was diagnosed in Jan 2005 and finished her last rad tx in August 2005. She looked into a lot of life changing dietary options. After reading much information, she is now drinking green smoothies, avoiding red meats and eating mainly organic foods. I have to admit I am just looking into it so I am not too helpful. But essentially, you eat a lot of vegetables, especially greens by using a strong blender and adding some fruit juice. The blender helps start to break up the greens to allow your body to better digest. These green smoothies also help to alkalinize the body. It is believed by some the acidity of the typical american diet contributes to cancer and chronic disease.
Anyhow, you may want to check out Green for Life
by Victoria Boutenko. I can be bought on Amazon.com. I think they have a website too but can't find it right now.
My sister-in-law feels great. She runs whenever she gets a chance (sometimes difficult with 4 children), usually 10 miles on the weekends. She had huge plantar warts on her foot that she tried everything for (over the years) including a huge resection to her heel tissue when I was living with them during residency.
Also she changed all their cleaning supplies.
She is a wealth of information.
Please let me know if you would like to speak with her. J'Aimee and Laura have my number. This goes for anyone else who may be interested!
Love and peace to you!

Praise God! What an answer to prayer. We will keep praying though, Laura. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Good news!

AWESOME NEWS!
Still praying for you.
Love you,

What great news for you. The Bible says faith is the "substance of things hoped for." Rita and I have prayed for this sort thing for awhile. You are a wonderful person and it is people like you and Chad that are examples of faith in our Lord to provide for us as needed.
